Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park
Driving to work in Trenton every day from Bound Brook, I found the best way included driving along the Delaware and Raritan Canal from East Millstone to Kingston and then after Kingston, again along the canal to U. S. Route 1. As a teacher of Photography told me in a Portfolio Development class, pick a place that you can go to often, under different lighting conditions and in different seasons. Thus the D & R Canal has become the object of Ted’s portfolio. The canal has two parts, the main canal which goes between Bordentown and New Brunswick and the feeder canal which starts at Bull’s Island on the Delaware River and merges with the main canal in Trenton. The images are arranged in two ways: to take you on a journey on the canal starting from Bordentown and traveling up to New Brunswick and then starting at the top of the feeder canal, Bulls Island, and going down to Trenton: then images arre organized as collections of fauna, flora, and reflections. Â
Photographer’s Note:Â All images shown on this page have become part of the Ted Settle Collection and are the property of the D&R Canal State Park, part of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Affairs. I retain the right to use images here and to sell prints of these images, with all proceeds to be donated toward support of the Park’s natural and historic resources.
