Australia

We have traveled six times to Australia.  We made friends with an Australian couple while the two husbands (Ted and Brian)  were students at McCormick Seminary in Chicago.   Our first trip was in 1998 and included traveling to Melbourne where our friends lived, going with them north to Cairns and then Port Douglas from which we were able to go on a small boat to the Great Barrier Reef.  The two of us and Brian then continued on to Darwin and a five day, four night trip into Kakadu. After this adventure, and finding the name of Ian Morris, author of a book on Australia’s north, we arranged a 10 tour of Kakadu with Ian as our guide in 2000.  Following hits stay in Kakadu, another couple from Australia rented a car with us and we drove to Alice Springs and from there to Uluru and Kata Tjuda.  Our next adventure was also with Ian, but this time to the Garma Festival, an Aboriginal event in the north of Arnheim Land, following which we spent a few days camping further up along Cape Arnhem. one final adventure with Ian as our guide was to go to the Kimberley region in the north of Western Australia.
